From what I've read, it's easiest to take it slow, cutting out one type of meat at a time. They also say that pork or chicken should be the first, because they're subject to the most cruelty. I rarely eat pork anyway, I pretty much gave that up last year, so I cut out chicken, which is my biggest meat source.
I've also been trying a few different veggie recipes, like the other day I made a veggie lasagna, and oh my god it was the best lasagna I've ever had, it's so much better without meat! Tori would love it too, because it has lots of orange veggies in it :-)
I actually feel a lot better when I haven't eaten meat, I haven't felt bloated for a long time, and I haven't had any cramps or anything. So yeah, going well so far.
The only thing is, when you tell people that you're trying it out, they begin to ridicule you straight away. "Oh you're not turning into a hippie are you" "You shouldn't be such a bleeding heart" "Why would you want to do that it's stupid"
Shaun hated the idea at first, but as soon as he found out I wouldn't be forcing it on him (aka: I would still cook meat for him, lol) he got over it, he also really likes all the veggie recipes that I've tried so far, even the vegetarian mince spaghetti which I didn't like. It tasted okay, but before you cook it, it looks and smells like canned cat food, so I'm not using that again.
Also, I found this picture, and I think it's hilarious.
I love the pic. Vegetarian is good but what about tacos? I usually order vegetarian at resteraunts cause I hate looking at a menu where the main ingredient is meat. And often the plate arrives with a huge piece of meat and the smallest amount of veges possible.
